Virtual music festivals are an unprecedented phenomenon in the sense that they are a new idea and have become extremely popular in recent years. It is common to see festivals being held via gaming platforms such as Minecraft and Fortnite, as well as on streaming services like Twitch and YouTube Live.

With the implementation of stay at home orders throughout most of the world, these online events are happening more frequently and are expanding in size and creativity. Not only are music festivals held online, but so are talks, book clubs, birthday parties, album releases, art galleries and much more.

Since these events are so new, it will be fascinating to see what artists and others come up with to expand on what foundations have already been built online.
